Yoga therapy combines trauma-informed, brain-sensative, compassionate care with yogic principles such as asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and mindfulness, the Eight Limbs of Yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, Ayurveda and more. These principles are further complemented with modern somatic modalities like art therapy, orthopedics, Internal Family Systems and others to explore with clients how they can become more integrated with themselves and be their own healer.
Christine works with clients from all walks of life who are committed their own healing. Whether that healing is in body, mind, or spirit or, more likely, some combination of the three, it is apparent that holistic healing is more successful than just healing the body or only exploring the mind. All areas of our lives work together for wholeness.
Christine is a E-RYT, C-IAYT yoga teacher and yoga therapist who has studied art therapy, biofeedback, neurofeedback, yoga for cancer, endochrine and digestive health, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Compassionate Inquiry, orthopedics, embodied social justice, yoga for chronic pain and brain-sensitive yoga. But, more than that, she has a history of her own childhood and legacy trauma.
Christine came to yoga for physical pain but it is a practice and philosophy that has not only given her physical relief, balance and strength but also, as an unintended but welcome side effect, helped her find self-love and compassion, the ability to create and maintain healthy boundaries, explore how her trauma history has impacted her decisions and relationships and allowed her to connect to her own authentic Self.
